7 Ways to Support Your Local High School Football Team

High school football is a community effort. Beyond cheering from the stands, there are plenty of ways to help your local team and the students who play, cheer, march, and volunteer.

1. Show Up and Cheer

The simplest way to help is to attend games. A full student section and a loud crowd mean a lot to the players.

2. Buy From the Concession Stand

Concession stands are often run by booster clubs or student groups. Your purchases often go back to the school's programs.

3. Join or Donate to the Booster Club

Booster clubs help pay for equipment, travel, and team events. Ask your school's athletic office how to get involved.

4. Volunteer Your Time

Schools often need volunteers for ticket tables, field setup, or team meals. Even a few hours helps.

5. Support the Whole Fall Community

Football is just one part of Friday night. Bands, cheer squads, and drill teams work hard too. Applaud them all.

6. Share the Schedule

Help friends and family find game times. Sharing a schedule can bring more people to the stands or to the stream.

7. Be a Positive Fan

Good sportsmanship sets an example. Encourage players from both teams, and thank the coaches and officials.

Support Student Athletes Off the Field

Student athletes are also students. Celebrating their academic achievements, community service, and character helps them feel valued in every part of school life. Attend award nights, read the school newsletter, and encourage students in all their activities.

Help Younger Fans Feel Included

Elementary and middle school students often look up to high school athletes. Inviting kids to games, letting them meet players, or asking teams to visit local schools builds excitement for the next generation.

Stay Involved Year-Round

Support does not end after the last game. Off-season fundraisers, community service events, and spring activities all help keep the program strong. Ask your school how you can help.

Thank the Adults Behind the Scenes

Coaches, athletic trainers, bus drivers, custodians, and volunteers all make game night possible. A simple thank-you goes a long way.

Follow Your Team Online

Follow your school's athletics accounts for schedule updates, ticket information, and results. If you cannot attend a game, check whether it is streamed. See how to watch Wyoming high school football online.
